2024 Men's Olympic Basketball Odds & Favorites: Team USA Leads Serbia, Canada, France
With the 2024 Paris Olympics drawing ever closer, we're looking ahead to the men's Olympic basketball odds from our best sports betting sites.
At long last, we finally have a glimpse at the initial roster for Team USA, which remains the prohibitive betting favorite (-500) across our best sportsbooks to win the 2024 Men's Olympic Basketball Tournament in Paris, France. The tournament begins on Saturday, July 27, with the gold medal game set for Saturday, Aug. 10.
The Americans, who have won four straight gold medals and a record 16 overall, have reportedly finalized the first 11 spots on its 12-man roster ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. That group includes former MVP winners LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Joel Embiid, who will all play together for the first time in a competitive environment.
While Team USA has dominated the Olympics over the years, it was stunned last summer as the FIBA World Cup odds favorite. It'll face stiff competition this summer, too, with NBA MVP odds favorite Nikola Jokic and wunderkind Victor Wembanyama among the top international stars in the field.
Here's a look at the projected Team USA roster along with the latest Men's Olympic Basketball Tournament odds and favorites, courtesy of our best sports betting sites.

Favorites to win 2024 Men's Olympic Basketball Tournament
USA (-500)
The last time we saw Team USA take the floor, it fell to neighboring Canada in the bronze medal match of the 2021 FIBA World Cup in a dispiriting loss for USA Basketball. That lit a fire under the top American stars, and the result is one of the most star-studded rosters we've ever seen.
"The Avengers," as they've been dubbed, include what will likely be one last ride for James, Curry, and Durant - a prolific trio that has never played together for Team USA. Embiid joins that group, too, despite being eligible to play for host country France as well as his native Cameroon.
Even without all of those marquee stars, the Americans have claimed gold in seven of the last eight Olympic Games dating back to 1992 - the first time NBA players were eligible to compete. The "Dream Team" won handily that year and sparked a three-decade run that will be tough to stop this summer.
Serbia (+750)
While Team USA features the most talented roster in this field, Serbia boasts the best player in the world in Jokic, who is closing in on his third NBA MVP trophy in four seasons. That should certainly strike fear in the hearts of anyone laying short odds on the Americans.
Even without Jokic, the Serbians reached the gold medal game of last summer's FIBA World Cup before losing a nail-biter to Germany. Now they'll add the best player in the field to a group that already includes fellow NBA player Bogdan Bogdanovic and former EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic.
The last time Jokic represented his country in the Olympics, Serbia secured silver after losing in the final to Team USA - which happens to be its first-round opponent on July 28. That opening contest will tell us a lot about the top two favorites in this field.
Canada (+800)
The 2023 FIBA World Cup marked Canada's breakthrough on the international stage, beating Team USA to secure the bronze medal - its first medal of any kind since 2015. And this group will be hungry for more in Paris.
The clear draw is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who announced himself to the world last summer ahead of a stellar campaign in the 2023-24 NBA season. He'll likely be joined by fellow NBA veterans Jamal Murray, RJ Barrett, Andrew Wiggins, Dillon Brooks, Lu Dort, Kelly Olynyk, and Dwight Powell, while youngsters Bennedict Mathurin and Shaedon Sharpe could be on the roster, too.
That's a heck of a lot of talent for a team that hasn't competed at the Olympic level since 2000. If SGA can play like a top-three player in the world, as he's done over the last six months, Canada could be a dark horse to win the whole thing.
France (+900)
For all the talent on display for the top three teams on this list, we'd be remiss if we didn't spotlight the host country, which features arguably the most devastating frontcourt in the entire field.
Rudy Gobert, the favorite by the NBA Defensive Player of the Year odds to win his fourth such award, will make his third Olympic appearance after guiding France to the silver medal at Tokyo 2020. He'll be joined by Wembanyama, who already looks like one of the best players in the world and could unleash his best showing yet in the biggest two weeks of his career thus far.
With those two patrolling the paint - especially with the benefit of international rules - it'll be tough for anyone to score inside against the French. This group has bested Team USA before in international play and could be a wild card this summer, especially with "home-court advantage" as the Olympic hosts.

Men's Olympic basketball odds over time
While most of our best live betting sites either just posted odds or are yet to do so, the early betting market had Team USA trading around -250. Those odds have shifted to -500 after the influx of elite talent committing to play for the Americans this summer.
We've seen the odds lengthen accordingly for the other top contenders in this field, namely Serbia and Canada, in response to the seeming invincibility of "The Avengers" taking the court for Team USA. Even countries like Germany and Australia are now dealing as long shots just months after opening as dark-horse options.
