2024 NBA Finals MVP Odds: Tatum, Edwards Favorites Heading into Conference Finals
Jayson Tatum is the consensus favorite by the 2024 NBA Finals MVP odds across our best NBA betting sites after his Boston Celtics secured their spot in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Since the start of the NBA playoffs, Jayson Tatum has been the favorite to win NBA Finals MVP. He's the best player on the team with the shortest NBA championship odds, so it should come as no surprise that he remains the front-runner as Boston heads into the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers.
However, with the Minnesota Timberwolves knocking off the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs, Anthony Edwards has jumped up the board. Behind Edwards, the Timberwolves came back from down 20 points in Game 7 against the defending champions.
Both Tatum and Edwards are obvious contenders for the award as the top scorers on the favorites in each respective conference, but Luka Doncic remains a threat. The Dallas Mavericks star helped take down the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

NBA Finals MVP favorites
Jayson Tatum (+130 via BetMGM)
Without much movement in the odds at the top of the board through two rounds, it's likely best to hold out on betting Tatum in case the Celtics stumble early against the Indiana Pacers, or at the start of the NBA Finals.
Celtics fans hoping to back Tatum in this market should be hoping Boston falls behind early in the Eastern Conference Finals to help lengthen these odds. Tatum is coming off a 4-1 series win against the Cavaliers in which he averaged 26.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 2.6 combined steals and blocks.
The one reason not to back Tatum in this market over betting the Celtics to win it all? Teammate Jaylen Brown, who is trading as the fourth-favorite in this market and has the superstar talent to take over a series. If Boston wins it all, Tatum will likely be the biggest beneficiary, but don't rule out Brown stealing this award from the favorite.
Anthony Edwards (+350 via bet365)
It's been a wild ride tracking Edwards' odds for this award. The Timberwolves young star exploded for 43 points in a Game 1 win against the Nuggets and saw his odds shorten drastically. But as Minnesota fell down 3-2 in the series, they began to lengthen again.
While the Timberwolves did manage to upset the reigning champs with a 20-point comeback in Game 7, Edwards wasn't at his best. He scored fewer than 20 points in three of Minnesota's final five games in the series. Still, he's averaging 28.9 points in the postseason and will be the key to the T-Wolves reaching the NBA Finals.

NBA Finals MVP odds explained
NBA Finals MVP odds are a way for sportsbooks to set the probability of a specific player winning the MVP award for the NBA Finals. These odds represent the sportsbook's estimation of a player's likelihood to be named the NBA Finals MVP based on various factors such as performance, team success, and historical trends.
The odds for each player are determined based on a combination of factors, including their regular-season and playoff performance, team success, historical trends, public opinion, and betting patterns. Sportsbooks adjust the odds throughout the series based on the players' performances and other relevant factors.
The shorter the odds, the more likely the player is to win the award in the eyes of the sportsbooks. If a player is +260 to win NBA Finals MVP, that means they have a greater chance of winning it than a player that is +1700. However, a bet pays out more if the odds are longer.
It's important to note that odds are not a guarantee but rather a representation of the sportsbook's estimation of the probability of a particular outcome. Different sportsbooks may offer slightly different odds, so it's advisable to compare odds from multiple sources to find the best value.
